After reading the other posts ( thanks to Chippy and others )re using another antenna to fix the problem of poor reception I added a new antenna to the bullbar.
I used a old UHF one and a plug style base and made a bracket to fit onto the post of the Soveriegn bar next to my UHF one.
Just knocked it up at work out of stainless sheet .
I didnt want the antenna on all the time so I needed to keep the original antenna working so I made up a double adaptor of such so the original and the new one could be connected all the time. Got a few plugs and sockets from Dick Smiths and a bit of extra coax and made this.
On this Dick Smiths are no longer going to be selling components, once current stocks are gone thats it, will leave only Jaycar.
Removed radio and trims from dash following instructions from LCOOL site to find that there were two original antenna plugs, a normal size and a smaller one, normal one was connected. removed plug from radio and using adaptor plugged both into radio socket.
Tested each one by removing other plug and no problems radio works on either or both antennas.
put dash back together and all up took about hour and a half to do.
Other photos show
socket on radio
Two original plugs
Bracket screwed to bar
Removed plastic trim and screwed bracket to tubes. Just cut away top edge to clear the bracket. The bonnet just clears the cable.
Just need to get out of metro area to test it.
