  • 150 D4D TURBO TO INTERCOOLER PIPE

    Howdee all,

Can someone please help me with a D4D 150 Problem I'm having.

Driving along, and strange noise became apparent. Air sucking noise under load, and extreme loss of power.

Have had a supposed fix on vibration done 2 months ago, and believe problem may have stemmed from their attempt to fix.

Rubber hose from cast pipe from turbo came off, the one that goes into intercooler. Now I assume that this should have had a hoseclamp on it, but
    it's not there, so I can't verify it's missing.

Would be most greateful if someone could tell me it should be there !!!

The pipe is directly beside fan belt, on the empty battery tray side of vehicle.

If anyone has the symptoms above, at least you will now know what it is :P

There should be a hose clamp on there. There nosie you been hearing is turbo boost leaking out and that why there no power.
Call the Dealer or customer care line tomorrow.

Have just had Toyota dude look at pipe.

It would appear, on looking at the rubber hose, it has Never had a hose clamp on it.

It has been a miracle it has'nt blown off before now ! Have done 14k so far.

Might pay to check your forced induction hoses on your D4D guys ?

It's the rubber hose just prior to intercooler, but not at the intercooler end of hose.

      Cheers

Re: 150 D4D TURBO TO INTERCOOLER PIPE

        Hi BenTas,

We had a fault logged at the ECU as Fuel problem p0083(I think) that was causing the vehicle to go into limp home mode (severe loss in power engine lamp on)
After a day and a half of analysis the dealer discovered through Toyota that some 150's have been manufactured with faulty intercooler hose clamps. In my case very loose and sucking air under load. I have had them replaced and now all is great.
        Cheers

Re: 150 D4D TURBO TO INTERCOOLER PIPE

There was actually an issue early on, that the intercooler clamps were too loose, that was meant to be fixed at the dealer before delivery.

If this is looking like a potential issue, source some good quality dayco clamps or better and change them out.
