  • Auto reset circuit breakers

I am wiring in a brake controller later today and I bought the 12v Auto reset circuit breaker this morning that the instructions say to use. I notice it has 2 poles/terminals on it. One is a brass colour and one is a sivler steel colour. Why is that with the different colours? And is there any particular direction to wire it to?

Learn something new every day, which one is which??? Thought it was just the manufacturer only using brass for the one that actually is a contact internally, thus saving a cent or 2.

By the way ABR (member on here) sells neat covers for the breakers

The brass pole connects to the battery and the silver pole is the Aux connection.

I have read that if not connected the correct way, then the breaker may not operate correctly. So, it seems it is important to get this right.

          Brilliant! Thanks Matt!

I've been searching for these covers and everyone I asked, told me there's no such thing! In the end, I used some heat-shrink over each of the terminals, which at least protected the poles from shorting. Still, I'll add one of ABRs covers to my shopping list; my nuts are still exposed with my heat-shrink solution... (yes, I realise what I just wrote ).

          Cheers,
