Before I ask Toyota to reflash the ECU to quieten a cold morning rattle, can members who have had only the ECU relashed indicate if their fuel consumption has taken a turn for the worse?

Re: Fuel consumption after reflash
60,000 Hubble80, the D4D is a 07 build. I have had the early morning rattle for the last two winters but as it disappears after a couple of kilometres I have not chased Toyota. As Perth has had a number of cold mornings this year the rattle is quite noticeable. Also the car is out of warranty in a couple of months.
I have noticed the engine appears noisier as it ages but the fuel consumption has not altered. Not knowing what the reflash does I am concerned the fuel consumption will worsen if the ECU is reflashed.

Re: Fuel consumption after reflash
I have recorded fuel consumption of my May 07 D4D accurately since new. There was very little change in fuel consumption as the rattle developed. When the reflash was done there was a very small improvement in fuel economy. The reflash did not fix the rattle so the injectors were changed under warranty at 86,000Km. This fixed the rattle. There was another slight improvement in fuel economy. My advise is get the injectors changed under warranty before you have real injector problems and forget about fuel economy.
