  • Anyone experienced these Replacement Headlights

Im sure that most people here will agree that the Prado's headlights are rubbish as far as output is concerned.

I just blew another fatboy globe last night and it only lasted about 18 months. IMO, the Fatboys do give a benefit, but not huge. I know there is a whole thread about them.
Anyway, found these and was wondering - apart from questionable looks, I wonder if these focused lenses are going to make things brighter and more focused ?

I guess the proof would be a review - which I can't seem to find. But if they made the focused lens right - it should give a way better and brighter spread of light. Even with normal standard globes ?

** I am by no means affiliated with this product.. Just keen to resolve my poor lighting situation

The thing with most "projector" type lenses is that they give a very focussed beam of light without much spread. Every car I have driven at night with projector lights I have found useless for seeing, let alone reading, overhead signs and street signs etc. That's why most manufacturers might use projectors for low beam, but still use a reflector for high beam.

I love the reflector lights on my RAV 4 and also on the latest corolla. Awesome (On low beam )... Not sure how they would be as reflector on Hi beam as stated.

I agree totally for high beam. The low beam would be good with the lens I think - and you could put a HID in there. However, you've still got the issue of needing a lens washer jet if going HID.

I might try the NARVA globes or the OSRAM's. They seem to be getting reasonable reviews with similar output to the IPF globes, but the cost is a lot lower.

I've gone with Philips Extreme Power (?) - they are the +80% and are a huge improvement over the standard globes. Cost about 60 bucks for the pair from memory.

IPF Fatboy globes in mine, moderatly happy with the standard lights now. There is a thread on them already showing the difference.

Don't know about the idea of prado headlight being rubbish - I occasionally drive my folks Corolla 1990 model from memory. That thing has highbeam that is like the low beam on my prado.

The only time I do say the light are ineffective is when I turn off the hid spot and run around with lowbeam with oncoming traffic.

I would be interested to see how these light do preform though, might have save some $$$ in the meantime - oh wait just paid the rates, water, etc etc whats money these days - non existant at the moment

I have also upgraded with the philips globes in the past-see below links...
I initially used the 4000k rated lights then recently upgraded to the 4300k lights.I still think the HID upgrade will be nice but until minister for finance approved then the Philips will do.
I also found the Philips to be better than the Narva equavelents from real world experiences...
                My 2 Cents...

Some of e-bay sellers like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/philips-H4-12v-g ... 35a6ad3236

quote that Philips Crystal Vision globes are NOT road legal (but Extreme Power+80 are). This may need a further investigation I think or advice from PP members in the know.

I've just changed to the Philips X-treme and bought from this ebay seller
                    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 326wt_1093

Haven't had a night drive yet but it looks good on the road and brighter than factory (reversed the car onto the road for a quick look-see). The globes came with free parkers and I put them in as well. They were much brighter as well. Both lights were a little whiter than the factory yellow.
