  • sway bar bushes

I've been told I need to get the front sway bar d-bush replaced for a roadworthy.
Is this only a minor problem? suggestions on how much it would cost to get replaced?

    Re: sway bar bushes

Last time I did them it was about $35 for the 2 D rubbers (sway bar to chassis mounts) and about 20 mins of my time cause i piss farted around changing them. It's a fairly easy job to do yourself at home. I can't seam to find a "how to" right now but if I do I'll post it up if noone else has.

If your guna get someone to do it for you I recon you'd get away with it for about $100 all up (parts and labour) I guess.

      Re: sway bar bushes

I got Nolathane ployurethane sway bar bushes to replace mine at $18.50 front (pair) and $24 rear(pair) (or might be the other way around) from Repco.

If you're a keen off roader then stick with rubber bushes, they flex better.

Just found out I need to replace my D shaped sway bar bushes but wondering how I get the new bushes onto the sway bar. Do I simply disconnect the link assembly then slide the bush over the splayed end of the sway bar? I presume the bush will fit over the end of the sway bar easily enough?

Very easy to do mate, the bush is split, so you just need to separate it and it goes around the sway bar, the only issue you may have is getting to the nuts to undo the retaining clamp, for some unknown reason they made the nut screw onto the bolt (not bolt onto nut) so the nut location is on top and hard to get to.

It's a easy job as croozza has stated. Have just done mine and was shocked to find out that there are three different size sway bar's fitted to the 90 series. So just a tip, measure the width of the bar before chasing up the part's.

The to do list is getting shorter.

Cheers for the advice. I have two bushes on order with Toyota, I gave them the VIN number so hopefully I get the right ones. :-D
