Do your Prado's 150 locks itself once you pass 30km/h or opens itself once you turn off the ignition? My 150 doesn't but my Hilux 3.0 does..I find this weird...
I have both a 150 VX and a Hilux 2008 SR and neither lock or unlock automatically when you are driving the car. The only thing they both is if I unlock it and do not open the door it will automatically lock itself back up after 1 minute.

Sounds like either a computer issue or has an aftermarket alarm fitted with anti-carjacking door locking?
Actually everything is stock in the Hilux... I just remembered an employee from the dealership did some tweaks with the key in the ignition in order to activate this feature on the Hilux...once you pass 30km/h it will lock itself and when you turn of the engine and remove the key from the ignition the doors will unlock..Im not sure this can be "programmed" in the Prado since it does not have a key nor a ignition switch...
The auto locking is a standard feature in many Asian countries, when in PNG 20 years ago the Mazda 929 hire car scared the living daylights out of me when it locked the doors at 15kmh!!

Have a look in the owner's manual. You need to press a combination of the lock and unlock buttons and switching of the ignition to activate certain functions. I know that I played around with it at one stage on my Hilux.

I found this info on the 4x4 community.co.za site.
(sorry the first part was in another language but the thread was about 2010 prado's and their locks).
You can set the following automatic door locking and unlocking functions.
(a) Locking linked with the shift position
All the side doors and back door are locked automatically when the automatic
transmission selector lever is moved out of the “P” position with the engine running
and all the side doors and back door are closed. This function is the default setting
for new vehicles.
(b) Unlocking linked with the shift position
All the side doors and back door are unlocked automatically when the automatic
transmission selector lever is moved to the “P” position with the ignition switch in
the “ON” position.
(c) Locking linked with the vehicle speed
All the side doors and back door are locked automatically when the vehicle
speed reaches 20 km/h (12 mph) or higher. However, if any of the side doors and
back door is unlocked during driving, this auto locking function will not operate until
the unlocked door is opened once.
(d) Unlocking linked with opening the driver’s door
All the side doors and back door are unlocked automatically when the driver’s
door is opened within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned from the “ON”
to “ACC” or “LOCK” position.
SETTING THE FUNCTIONS
1. Close all the side doors and back door.
2. Turn the ignition switch to the “ON” position.
3. Within 10 seconds after the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position;
To set function (a)
Push and hold the front of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the
automatic transmission selector lever in the “P” position.
To set function (b)
Push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the
automatic transmission selector lever in the “P” position.
To set function (c)
Push and hold the front of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the
automatic transmission selector lever in any position except “P”.
To set function (d)
Push and hold the rear of the power door lock switch for 5 seconds with the
automatic transmission selector lever in any position except “P”.
All the side doors and back door are automatically lock and unlock when you release
the power door lock switch. This indicates that the function is set. If all the
side doors and back door do not lock and unlock, the time the switch was held may
have been too short or too long. Perform the procedure over again starting from
step 1.
If you want to cancel a function, repeat the procedure. Each time you perform the
procedure, the function is set or cancelled.
Chris, I could'nt get it to work..this may sound dumb but what is the "ON" on the new prado? is it when just the radio is on or when the AC is on also??
please let me know if any of you guys get it to work...
I left my Prado for 10k service yesterday. I asked them to enable this feature. I've been told that it is impossible on ozi cars since it is not implemented. They say it is avaliable in european models only. Does anyone have it enabled on ozi model?
AFAIK VSS1 is the same everywhere.
My UK LC4 150 (GXL?) does not lock automatically when driving although I am told it is possible to fiddle with it to make it do so.....although I haven't checked the manual.............
