  • Lightforce Genesis, anyone got them yet..

Anyone got these light yet? Any opinions?

I am looking at getting some and rang around a bit. Seems that the spot light is usual lightforce quality but spread beam is not good.. "Its no better than the headlights" from one supplier. They then recommended getting 2 spot lights and getting the combo diffuser that will come out soon, because LF acknowledge the the problem with the spread beam.

Anyone here have any first hand experience with this? I am having trouble believing that Light Force would have got it so wrong, given the long delay in releasing these lights.

In the absence of any info I will be the guinea pig and get some spots (given the supplier information) and report back later. I also kind of like the idea of just using the covers to change the beam pattern anyhows.

Well... Here they are on the sovereign bar. They seem to be a good size. The mounts can not be fitted in the little flat bit, but I mounted the base just in front of the flat bit. no problems. There is the option of 2 cross bolt positions, I have them in the forward position at the moment. The other position would make them sit about 10mm further back.

The image was taken with my phone so its not real good.

      G'day
Just wondering how the Genesis lights are going? A decent set of lights are high on the wish list and I like the look of the Lightforce. I was looking at either the 240Blitz or the Genesis

      cheers

Re: Lightforce Genesis, anyone got them yet..

I don't really have anything to compare them with, but... I find them excellent. They make driving at 100km/h on dark roads at night, safe and easy, where as before I was struggling to do 80 and found that tiring. The mounting system is excellent and they are water resistant. Apparently they had a set running in a fish tank all day at the 4wd show in brissy. The instructions talk about being carful with the seals and stuff if you take it apart, and there is a gortex breather thingy next to where the wires come out. It certainly looks like it is designed to be water proof to some degree. Wait and see I suppose.

I have them aimed to hit the road at about 400-500m away and they light the place up nicely up to about 700m (approx. measurement via odometer whilst driving on a straight road). Mine are just the halogen, but are plenty bright for me. I have two spots which are good for highway, completely useless for tight stuff, but I find high beam, with Narva blue plus bulbs to be ok for that for now. (as good as the IPF fatboys that only lasted 12 months and only $60 from repco.)

I am going to get some spread covers so I can change to spot, spread/spot or spread/spread. But the covers have not been released yet, so I don't know how effective they will be. My guess is that I will end up leaving one spread cover on.

          G'day

Thanks heaps for update. I am keen on the Lightforce that is for sure. I hope the spread cover works out for you. I think with the driving i do a spread/spot is going to be the way to go.

I will let you know what I do

          cheers

I have 2 light force HID's on the bull bar and found them to be great when I drove to Darwin. They are expensive but worth it. PS I still hit a big roo at night, came from nowhere, but still love their performance.

Re: Lightforce Genesis, anyone got them yet..

I just purchased and had ARB install a pair of Genesis halogen lights yesterday. I am happy with the job but I am a bit pissed off with the boys at ARB for either bullshitting me or being misinformed about the beams.

I asked for a combo spread and spot beam set up. They informed me the lights come in spot/pencil beam and you need to buy covers to change to a wide/spread beam. Apparently they have ordered them.

Now that I have tested the lights I can clearly see they are not spots but a pair of wides. If you look on the website they also clearly state the lights come in wide or spot. You can buy colored filters but that is all. No covers available to change the beam.Funny because I just noticed even the invoice says they are a pair of wides

I am hoping the guys who installed them will swap one of them for a spottie. Not to sure about these guys though. They also reckon one of the clear covers was defective so I only got one at the moment till they order another replacement. When I inquired what was wrong with the cover I was told it had a blemish then said it had a crack in it. Strange I thought it took a fair bit to crack these things. I asked If this was the case why didn't he just leave it on till the replacement came in. I was then told it was at the other shop. I also notice the box the lights came in sitting on the bench was all ripped up?

On the positive side it seems they did a great job installing the lights and moved them forward from the flat spot on the bull bar like the ones on dereki's post.

As far as the wide lights go they are fantastic for wide cornering but not enough light down the road for highway use. I will be pretty annoyed if they can't/wont get me a spot option.

              Cost was $625 all up.

I am waiting for mine to be air freighted from OZ. I will have the first set in North America and I can't wait to see them in action.

Re: Lightforce Genesis, anyone got them yet..

Is there a wiring harness for the Genesis?

They are unavailable in the US and an e-mail from lightforce recommended taking them to get wired by a 'sparkie' (I assume that's an electrical specialist).

Re: Lightforce Genesis, anyone got them yet..

I've got a prototype 70w internal ballast from light force, my mate is in development for them in Adelaide. They would only allow me to have 1 spot and 1 spread.
The light output is amazing, pure white, not blue, but the best part unlike my blitz 240 HID's they don't vibrate on rough roads. They are also slightly smaller, so they don't look like 2 helicopter search lights on the front.

I a very impressed with them.

According to my light force mate, they are scheduling release for these 70w internal ballast genesis series mid 2012. The only problem is that big white cornering signs force you to turn them off!

Great lights, I've use several light force setups over the years, trying hella and also IPF, all good, but the light force just seem to handle the corrgations better over time.

                    Cheers,

What colour temp have you got. I haven't mounted mine yet but I have the 35W 5000K ones. I powered one the other night and the light seemed rather blue... Possibly because I pointed it at a white wall.

I am thinking of trying to swap them to 4300K.

                        Hi D

I am looking to install a pair of Genesis HID's on my Parado with Sovereign bar to replace my old Cibie SC's. I note you had to move the mount forward of the flat bit to fit. Does this mean you had to drill the hole in the bar further forward or is the mount adjustable enough for the bolt to fit in the usual position? I don't really want to have to drill another hole!

The short answer is yes. The flat bit is not wide enough to accommodate the genesis mount bracket.

Has anyone fitted 70 watt HID's to there genesis spot lights I would like to up grade. But unsure about the shims that are included in some kits. Can anyone recommend any that they have fitted and how easy they went in any modifying lens.

I have had mine on and running for a few months now. Very happy with them. I originally thought that the light was too blue, but on the road is very easy on the eyes.
