  • Going through the Firewall

Having just bought my 120VX I am installing the UHF and the spot lights and was wondering if anyone can advise the best spot to go through the firewall with the antenna coax to come out in the centre console, and for the switching cable for the spotties to come out near the fuse box next to electric mirror switches?
I am sure this has been done many times and some one can answer this question, it will save myself time experimenting and I would be greatly appreciated.

You can use the main cabling entry points points on either side of the fire wall.
The passengers side is probably easier if you remove the glove box.

The is provision for the bonnet release bonnet cable that is not used on the passenger grommet,
just poke a hole through the flat and use a length of plastic coated curtain wire or similar to pull the coax
through assuming it has an fme connector on it. Same for the spots.

If you use the drivers side I would just poke a little hole through the boot and again use curtain wire to
pull the cables through, the rubber will stretch.

Apply a little silicon to the last inch of cable or so before pulling through to form a good water tight seal.

      Cheers

There's been a number of posts on this, some with good "how to" pics.
Try a search, if no luck, someone will find them.
        Cheers, Wayne

          Re: Going through the Firewall

Thanks all, spotties up and running. used the grommet drivers side as they had already previously made the hole (also appears right next to fuse panel), so utilised. found a switch that also fitted perfectly with minimal adjustments. I also like the tip for silicone on the last cm of cable when pulling through as it bunches up creates a great seal.

Thanks all. just the UHF to go now

I ran the uhf cable into the cabin through the grommet for the air conditioner tubing just to the left of the centre console. Cheers
