  • Head Light adjustment

    Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience in readjusting headlights?

Have just installed Poly Air bags in the rear and lights need adjusting so that i can see at night again.

Where are the adjusters on the back of the headlights?

Which direction do you turn them to increase the height of the beam?

    Regards

    Re: Head Light adjustment

So is out of level because you have too much air in the bags, i.e. point too much down angle or are you still looking up at the sky? If you have not upgraded your suspension then you are pissing in the wind for the air bags. You are expecting the air bags to do all the work when you might need them only for towing and a full load on in the back. I only run mine @ 5 psi while unloaded and start @ 30 psi and load up and level out after all people are in and ready to go as you may have more fat boys on one side of the truck then on the other  Head light it takes a lot of turns to move them and it is not that easy if you really screw it up...then you end up taking it in having them fix it.

      Re: Head Light adjustment

      Hi thanks for the reply,

The airbags where installed to return vehicle to level ride height when towing pop top van.
I am currently running 5psi as its unladen so need to get the beams off the road directly in front and back to height where i can see again.

I have looked at the rear of the headlights and there seem to be 2 screws/bolts in the plastic housing are these the adjusters?

Not sure off your comment pissing in the wind as regards to the airbags?

The air bags installed are for the standard height suspension.

What I mean abour pissing in the wind is if your springs are so warn out that you may need new ones. Consider fitting new springs all around as with any fruit added to the front will push it down. IF you have a bull bar, winch, dual batteries this will push the front down. As we do not know where you are or what you have we cannot better advise you. Even if you went with fitting a lift with new shock and all should cost around $1700 to 2300$ fitted and you would have a much better ride and be set up for your towing too. ALL things need to be considered with the wieght factory. Yes adding the air bags was a cheap fix to the problem but you may not have solved the whole problem with the air bags.

Well if I was going to do ALL the work for you I might have suggested to go and search in the first place...was really trying to get more information to correct the total problem and not just try and solve the simple problem. Next time try the search function first.
