  • Rear Camera

    G'day,

I notice the camera on the 150 series is mounted in the spare wheel cover so just wondering what is recommended so far as the location for mounting a rear camera on a 120 series, please? Any model numbers & photos of mounts would be good too.

    Cheers

    Dave

    Re: Rear Camera

One of our members (Digioptions) sells a 120 series specfic camera. It replaces one of the number plate lights (it includes a new LED light).

It has an excellent angle view and picture quality, you are also able to see the the tow ball in the field of view.

Contact Matt (Digioptions) directly for pricing:

I run this camera and am very happy with it.

      Re: Rear Camera

I mounted my reverse camera between the numberplate lights using the bracket supplied (Polaris) works fine - the existing wiring from the rear door to behind the dash was a real help. I cut the existing plug off inside the rear door and used it to plug into the other end of the wires behind the dash.

          Re: Rear Camera

Dave, what will you be connecting your camera to ? Factory Sat/Nav, aftermarket headunit, separate monitor ?

I believe under the license plate will be the best location as it is both under a cover so not exposed to the weather as much and also allows a better angle behind the spare. It also comes down to the viewing angle of the camera. I have a 130deg Polaris camera and headunit (I originally had the standard cd/radio) located above the license plate as seen on my avtar (if you squint enough, I'll get the larger pic and update my post sometime tonight).

            Re: Rear Camera

Thanks heaps for all the replies guys. I went with a camera from JBs (not sure of the brand) and had it mounted just above the number plate connected through to an Eclipse head unit. There was a little bit of fiddling to change plugs at the head unit but works great. I just found an extra 2 metres or so when reversing out of shopping centre car parks and when reverse parking ops:

              Re: Rear Camera

I found this camera on-line, looks like the same unit pictured above and the one that VMS sells for $249:

Currently at $50.10, looks like a good buy.
