I'm managed to dent in my bash plate on the sand this weekend. Any idea on the cost of a genuine replacement?

    Thanks,

I would get a TJM one they r a lot thicker for about 175 bucks. Have a look at my build up thread.

      Thanks,
Dont waste your time it would be cheaper and twice as strong to buy a browns davis or as hutch said a Tjm..

as an indication, last time i priced up the three plates for v6 hilux was well over $500 retail.
would definately invest in brown davis or the like, you wont bend these in the sand.
smacked mine on a few rocks in a riverbed over the weekend, not so much as a scratch however would've totalled the genuine plates

          Re: Sump Bash Plate

timely post. I smacked mine VERY hard on the weekend, up against a bolt which holds the sump on - it created a crack about 5" long. Time to look at doing this.

            Re: Sump Bash Plate

Just fitted my TJM bashplate a fortnight ago. $250 to buy, two mates to help fit (which was overkill) and didn't even take long enough to drink one beer.
That easy and that much stronger I wonder why I waited so long to do it.

I'd put money on the OE bashplate costing more than double.

            Cheers

With the TJM and Brown Davis bash plates is it possible to do an oil change with the bash plate atatched or does it need to be removed?

Mate actually that is the one thing that sucks with the browns davis...you have to remove the armour...

That's the advantage of the TJM one.

Ah, thanks for that. I was heading towards the Brown Davis but if you have to remove it for an oil change I'll absolutely go for the tjm which appears to have the right holes in the right places..

                          Re: Sump Bash Plate

Just finished installing my TJM. There are slots for the engine oil change but I recon the slot need to be located about 20mm back. The sump plug lines up with the back of the slot in the plate. I can see the toyota guys making a mess and not cleaning it when they change the oil next service.

I believe it's the correct plate. The cardboard box has Toyota Prado Diesel 2003 on printed on it.
