Re: D4d Injectors - replace or recon
Hi White Lightning
Toyota have stated that these injectors are "not serviceable". I had 4 new injectors installed after my D4D engine blew up. Each injector has a unique serial number and, apparently, that number contains some of the injector's characteristics. That is why they cannot be swapped around as the engine management computer needs to know exactly what injector is in which cylinder so as to provide fine control over the engine management.
When the injectors are replaced, a special Toyota programming unit plugs somewhere into the car and the engine management computer is told what injector is where. Complex huh?

Re: D4d Injectors - replace or recon
Hi,
What Toyota says is correct, each injector has certain tolerances don't ask me
why though, you would think with computer precision machining they would
all be the same but they aren't. When they are made they are measured and
calibrated and coded accordingly. When they are installed the technician
has to enter the code into the computer for each injector.

Re: D4d Injectors - replace or recon
You are actually 100% correct about the individual injector thing. I hadn't heard of such a thing before.
I stumbled apon this article from the manufacturers. http://www.densocorp-na.com/news/pr.php?Action=2232008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.
