  • Airconditioner button flashing

The other day I noticed my air conditioner light flashing (06 Petrol) this is the button in the centre of the dash. i turned it off and on a couple of times and it came good for a while but started flashing again.I took it down to the local auto spark and he said that his machine has tested the system and didnt pick up any of the normal faults IE low pressure , high pressure, over temp, but what the guy said was under the bonnet with the other relays is a relay that runs the air con and it has failed in the past so he just swapped it with the driving lights relay. These are about the size of a sugar cube and about $140 dollars each. The unit hasnt missed a beat since.

So what runs your driving lights?

I think that this error is to do with the clutch on the A/C slipping....for memory (very rusty on this though) the A/C monitors the speed of the compressor & if it doesn't match the engine at the correct ratio then it will through this error. If your relay was dodgy, it may have limited the current to the compressor clutch causing the issue.

Also if you car has an A/C air filter it may be dirty enough to throw the error.

I just had the 2 relays swapped with each other. I never use those fog lamps mounted in the roo bar , in Perth we dont suffer from fog.

Stormyknight is on the money, dirty contacts on the A/C compressor clutch relay causes the compressor clutch to fail to energise (engage) thus activating the compressor lock sensor. Stormyknight has told you the rest of the story.hope this helps a little

Had this happen to me today for the first time after storming through a low level fresh water crossing to clean out the guards. Must have got some water on the belt and slipped briefly. Press the A/C button off and back on again and she's all good.

                Aircon switch light blinking

                Hello folks

While driving, the aircon(A/C) switch light (green in colour) starts blinking, seeing that I switch off the aircon and switch it on after some time. Does any body here encountered the same problem? if so, what is the problem and how can it be solved.

                Thanks in advance..

Toyota solid state relays over $100, I replaced mine with a standard 12 volt 15 amp relay 2 years ago and still working. Relay was $12-00

You can source a replacement relay from Jaycar as well..much cheaper than TOYO and does same job.
