Re: 6volt to 12volt
Hi Tinkera, don't know about earthing the bridging lead. when hooking two 12v batteries together to make 24v in trucks, you run one lead from positive on one battery to Neg on the other, then the remaing positive and negative terminals are hooked up as per normal. negative to earth and positive to active.
hope this helps.

Re: 6volt to 12volt
Hi,
As Andrew wrote, connect them in series, negative terminal of one battery goes to chassis ground ie car negative. Postive terminal
of this battery is then connected to the negative terminal of the other battery. Positive terminal of second
battery goes to car postive.
Cheers

Re: 6volt to 12volt
HI Thanks for your replies. I intend to use it as a stand alone supply no charge from car just to run lights shower and low draw stuff no fridges so in this instance would you need to ground a NEG termial to the trailer. :?:2004 DuneGLX UPDATE V6 FACTORY BULLBAR IN CABIN DUAL BATTERY SYSTEM ECLIPSE SAT NAV.REV CAM.DVD. Re: 6volt to 12volt
To try and simplify, the batteries need to be connected in series, like torch batteries to get 12V.
If you intend to connect the lights etc directly to the negative and positive battery terminals then no you dont need
to connect the negative terminal to the chassis.
If the negative wire of the lights etc is connected only to the chassis and not the negative terminal of
the battery then you need to connect the battery negative terminal to chassis also.
Hope this makes it clearer.
Cheers

Re: 6volt to 12volt
It's always a good idea to avoid using the chassis of anything ( car, camper, caravan ) as the "earth" or negative return path. Always try to run both pos and neg wires to things your are powering.
Are your batteries new or second hand ? If second hand, do you know their history ?Cheers, Wayne
