  • iPod connection for 6 stacker

There have been a number of Pradopointers who have expressed frustration at not being able to get hold of a reasonably priced connection for their iPod to the 6 stacker stereo.
I've recently been trialing a new cable from CariPodCables in my 2006/2007 D4D that looks like solving the problem. (They sell through eBay and also have a web site. Do some Googling.)
I used information from Pradopoint to know how to pull part of the console and dash apart (and put everything back together). I plugged one plug into the back of the stereo, ran the cable down and out under the passenger side of the console, and placed the small black box between the inside runner of the passenger seat and the console. My iPod Classic is in a silicon sleeve so just sits near the auto stick, but can be slipped into the centre bin when I'm parked somewhere.
I use the Disk button to access the iPod and the Track/Seek button to go up and down tracks, but have to change artists, podcasts with the iPod itself. Volume, tone is adjusted through the stereo buttons as usual, and I can still have CDs in the stereo. Just pressing the Disk button a couple of times moves between the iPod and CDs.
I think it's great, and it charges the iPod too. My wife's Nano works fine with it as well.
I'm not sure if they've started selling them yet, but if you're interested,CariPodCables have a Contact Us page on their website.
    Happy listening.

      Not sure.
It's just a black cable that goes into the back of the stereo (mine has no socket on the front), a little black box that the cable runs into, and from the front of that, a single cable goes to my iPod and charges it and allows it to play through the stereo. The black box also has another socket to allow for a regular MP3 device to be played through the stereo, but it won't charge the non-iPod MP3.
Not sure if this answers your question Stewy.

If it does the trick, I may need to get one.

Yes, that's the sort of thing.
Just make sure they know you have the 6 stacker stereo. I think you'll find them pleasant to deal with.

The bottom of the page on that link says its not compatible with 6 stack systems.

I'm not sure if they've started selling them yet, but if you're interested,CariPodCables have a Contact Us page on their website.
            I'll be taking this suggestion.

              Travelman

I have been testing as well for caripodcables in a 03 model. I found issues with the speakers not balancing L/R once the ipod dock was connected and in using the aux plug connection to the box direct, got no sound.

Have you been connecting an iphone or the latest generation (5) ipod nano with the video camera?

Re: iPod connection for 6 stacker

                Hi AJ
I've been using the latest model iPod Classic and it's been going fine. Initially my iPod would play but not charge. However, they sent me a different cable to trial from the back of the stereo to the black box and now it works and plays fine. I've adjusted the front/rear balance so that the rear speakers are just a shade stronger and I think the sound from the front seats is even better than the normal 50/50 front/rear balance. Haven't noticed any left/right problem.
I tried my wife's new Nano some time ago and it went OK, and a little Toshiba 2GB MP3 played through the Aux cable and socket, though wouldn't charge (as expected.)
I'm currently away from home for another week so will try it again for you when I get back.

I've sent a query to the 'contact us' on this site but havent heard back.
Anyone else had any luck with confirming the compatibility with the 6 stacker for this or hearing back from them?
                  Thanks

                      Hello Matt,

I emailed them. They told me that the cable listed on thier website is not compatible with a six stack - but are testing a compatible one at the moment and it should be available to the public in about two weeks with a rrp of $90.

They will advise when it is available and I will pass on.

                      Hope this answers your question

                      Regards

I too contacted caripodcables regarding a cable for my 03 Grande with factory sat nav. The reply came on 24 Feb stating that there will be stock in 3 week's time.

                          Thanks everyone.
Maybe my query got lost along the way...or they got tired of answering the same query after everyone got on board from here.
I will await their testing then - sounds good!
When/if people hear back, could they post the details here? I, for one, am keen to get this little extra
                          Thanks again

                            Hi AJ
Back home now. I've just tried my current model Classic and my wife's Nano (the one with the video camera. ) Both work fine and I can't replicate the problem you mentioned. I suggest getting back to the boys at Caripodcables and explaining your issue. (You may have done this already.) I had to have the cable that goes from the stereo to the black box replaced because, with the original one, the iPod would not charge, although it would play. With the new cable, everything's working fine.
It's great being able to play the iPod through the stereo. When we have a long trip to do, I download several editions of the ABC Radio program Richard Fidler's 'Conversation Hour' free through iTunes. Some really interesting stuff there, and it's amazing how quickly 1000 km can pass.
                            Good luck

Just had a look at caripodcables' website.

It looks like the 6 stack compatible is now on the market. I have not asked the questions yet as to whether the 120 6-stacker is compatible. The picture on the website is different - as below.

Have a look at http://caripodcables.com.au/index.ph...roducts_id=209 if interested.
