  • Drivers Window Electric Switch Assembly

Can anyone advise me of where I can get a replacement master switch assembly? Mine has a fault on the drivers switch and it's not good in the rain when it won't wind up. I don't want to spend $500 on a new one!

      Thanks for your reply.

Have looked at the local wreckers and priced a new one. Am still looking and making enquiries.

Re: Drivers Window Electric Switch Assembly

        Hi Wayne

Mine played up recently and I got a quote for a new one ($598.0) no way I was paying that so I got one from "GMS Spares" cost me $120.00 delivered.

My problem was I couldnt wind the front pas side window up (from my side) so I thought the switch was fkd, but then I learnt that it had somehow been "turned off"......?????

I had to hold up the switch (pas side window switch on drivers side control) and turn on the ignition at the same time, then it was back to working again....????

Had me stumped for a few days too, I had the door pulled apart thinking it might be a brocken wire but no, just had to "re-program" the switch.

        Hope this helps

Re: Drivers Window Electric Switch Assembly

i had my drivers master switch replaced under warranty in mid feb, and they let me keep the old switch.
took it home and within 20min of looking, found and fixed the problem.
the problem was i had no manual down on PSR door.
a little bit of plastic had fallen off, so now have a spare

Re: Drivers Window Electric Switch Assembly

Hi Guys, I have an issue with my drivers door electric window switch. I have reset all the windows as per the user manual (i understand how to program them) and they all work except the drivers door window. I have checked all the connections at the drivers door and found no issues. The light is flashing on the drivers window switch button and the others are all on as normal. The only reaction I can get from the window is a soft click when I press the switch down. When I pull the window switch up there is no click or noise. Any suggestions? Is the switch faulty or is it programming not shown in the manual. Could it be the motor or is this unusual? Looking for any information that might help.

the light flashing idicates you have an error in the system.
i would say remove the DSF window motor and regulator from the vehicle and bench test.
i think you already have the answer. motor, but it could be the wiring to the motor - short/ground

G'day all, I recently had a flat battery in my Prado so I replaced it. Since then I have been having trouble with my driver door master control. I've had it apart and I'm sure there is no problem with it and it's just related to the flat battery.
Ryan12345 mentioned you can reprogram these switches as per the owners manual. I don't have an owners manual so if anyone can tell/explain to me how you reprogram these switches that would be a huge help.

                    Cheers

Also does anyone know how to get the radio to except a security code after the battery has been disconnected. Mine just displays the word 'SEC' and I can't get it to a point where I can enter the code.

                      Cheers

Your all too slow, I found the answers myself. How good is google.

                        Entering a radio code:
                        • Hold in the 'SEEK UP' button and press the no. '1'
The 'SEC' displayed on the radio will know say '1'
                        • Push the '1' button as many time as need to much the first number in your code.
For example in your code was 567 you would need to push the '1' button 5 times.
                        • Then for the second number push the number '2' button 6 times.
                        • Then for the third number push the number '3' button 7 times.
                        Eg. 11111 222222 3333333
                        • Finally hold in the 'SCAN' button to confirm your code. Easy!!

Now for the Window button problem.
Resetting the windows in dead easy.
                        • Go around the vehicle and open all the windows all the way at each individual door.
                        • Then go back around again and close each window holding the button manually and when the window gets to the top hold the button still in the up position for a further 5 seconds.
                        • Do this to each window and the main switch should have reset it's self.

Hope this helps a few people.

                        Cheers

skipmsg...I was all set to start pulling out fuses and swapping them to re-test following a flat battery, but your message about resetting the windows saved me a whole lot of time. Thanks a million!

I was doing just the same after taking the battery out. Thought I would just have a look at Pradopoint before trying to buy a new switch unit. Five minutes later all fixed - brilliant

Worked great on the 120 series, good advice.
Pity Toyota did not test it after having warranty work performed. They had obviously disconnected the battery which lead to windows not working from the driver side panel. They also forgot to reconnect the auto-mirrors, idle-up and dimmer connections when putting the dash back together (replaced the steering column).
                              Thanks heaps!
