  • Why couldn't Toyota stick the V8 diesel in?

As per the title. Sticking with the 3 litre d4d and increasing the weight of the car by more than 20% isn't going to make more sales me thinks. Why not put the 4.5 litre v8 twin turbo like the 70 series?? Any ideas?

Rumour has it that Toyota has a twin turbo V6 diesel in the works that will be available in the Prado in 18-24 months.

That sounds exciting, wonder if it will fit in a 90s

V6 Turbo Diesel eh ? Sounds nice, and believable, looking at the amount of width available under the bonnet, there sure is plenty of room !

May have been designed for the V6, not the D4D ?

The prado sized V8 Turbodiesel is already catered for with the 70 series wagons as well, which look like very decent rigs by the way! Now if only they'd put that V6 turbodiesel in the 70 series wagons! Very decent rigs if they did that!

and, my Toyota contacs tell me no-way they would put a V8 diesel or petrol in a Prado, as they would lose sales in Landcruiser 200 Series as a result.....

As far as I'm conserned unless you towing 20ft or more van in which case you would be better off buying a Cruiser (v8)
Iv, got 18ft behind a 09 (D4D) Prado auto and it leaves the old 2000 model for dead and I might add set at 90k on cruise it eats most things on the road all I have to do is steer it (will catch up in hilly terrain over a distance to other rigs) and I,m getting over 1000k on twin tanks (180 ltrs) all I do is let it stay in the torque range .
