  • Electric Brake Controlers

Hi guys well i am slowly getting closer the camper has been chosen after much debating and weighing up options now my question is as it has electric brakes i need to get an electric brake controller and was after some reccomendations.

    Only requirements are as follows

Unit must be simple to operate (as i have the technical knowledge of a wonbat and this whole levelling a pendulum or something already has me confused)
    Automatic as possible
    Bullet proof

Oh and if you could give me an educated guess on what i should pay installed would be helpful as i have been quoted far and wide.

Oh and one other dumb question is it specifically matched between my car and camper meaning can i then tow any trailer with electric brakes once installed and will it still work if i use one of those adaptor plug things i.e flat 7 pin to round 8 etc

As you can tell i only hook up a box trailer once a year at the moment so starting from a very low knowledge base
Dont list all ya mods, you will only be more upset when i get further

          Re: Electric Brake Controlers

I have the red arc controller and for me its a good unit.

It doesn't have the smarts of the P3 in that it doesn't adjust the amount of braking based on the inertia that it detects, it simply activates that brakes at the set amount whenever the brakelights come on.

Its easy to install and unobtrusive in the cab. If i towed more then i would probably prefer the P3, but for what i do the red arc unit suits me.

          Will
