View Full Version : ABS Light Flashing after Service
Last week I put my Prado D4D (May 08) in for its 30,000km service. When I picked it up from Toyota and started it, the ABS light was flashing. I questioned the mechanic and he advised that they checked the brakes and the light will disappear after a short period.
It has been almost a week now and the ABS light still comes on (less frequent now).
Has anyone else had this and know what the problem could be?

Sounds like they have either damaged one of the ABS wheel sensors/wires or left something unplugged/broken?
I would be returing it and talking to the service manager about them letting a car go back to a client in that state..... too bad if you crashed from brake fail down the road....

I agree with Team Piggy's comment.
After driving away from our Old Man Emu suspension install the ABS light did not go out, ARB couldn't find a solution so the Wife took the Prado into our Toyota Dealer the next day.
Once plugged into their diagnostic wizzer they soon found a fault with the Left hand front ABS sense cable and ordered a replacement.
I asked for the cable to see for myself and to show ARB. No damage was evident on the wire but no current could be read on the multi meter.
ARB was back charged for the replacement of the cable and had no further trouble.

Inlaws came to town on the weekend and after shopping, started their 100 series cruiser and the ABS light came on and a warning siren was sounding.
Unsure of what to do they drove very slowly to the nearest mechanical place and they put their electronic reader (inlaws words) on it and could not find anything. The brake fluid was topped up to the top mark and the siren went out but the ABS light was still on. Went to Toyota but was told they were to busy and to come back next week and they could look then.
When they arrived at my place I took the cruiser for a drive and tested to see if the ABS would work while the light was on. No ABS but some nice black lines on the road outside my place.
Removed the two ABS fuses from under the bonnet then put them back in. ABS light now off and with a test drive the brakes worked correctly.
