  • A Lift Finally

Well, the time has come, I am finally getting a lift. I have owned my 2002 Prado 3.0 Litre Diesel for a year now and have done many 4WD trips finding out my capabilities as well as the cars. I have found that due to height restrictions, I got hung up, and sometimes see-sawed. I have 16" Cooper ST 265/70/16 and Old Man Emu suspension, and as from this afternoon, I will have fitted Bilstein Shocks all round, with the 80mm downward travel for the rear, and Lovell Springs. Front equipped with Heavy Duty on the front to cope with the Steel ARB Bar, and 9X Superwinch, and the rear will be Medium I believe. I am having it done at CLIMAX SUSPENSION, Thornton, NSW. I was going to have the Poly Air Bags fitted too, but he suggested that if I wasn't towing a 2 Tonne caravan, not to worry about it. This guy sells other 4X4 equipment also, all brands like, Tough Dog, Ironman, Bilstein, Lovell, Koni, etc. I talked to him about other brands, but he said that Lovells Springs (5 year unlimited Kilometre warranty) are the best for Prado's, and I liked the Bilstein Shocks because they can be rebuilt to suit your needs and will last the life of the car. He is also going to change a leaking CV seal too (he normally doesn't do it) which just started leaking two days ago. All in all, I was more than happy with his customer service and price.

    Re: A Lift Finally

Good move, I have the exact same setup on mine although due to the problems I had with CV boots, I had my mechanic lower the front strut circlips to the lowest setting. Only dropped the front end 10mm but will see how the boots go from now on.

    Cheers,

    Glenn
