have noticed a wet patch around one of the filler/vent caps on my cranking battery - original toyota battery.
Closer inspection reveals that the mechanic that serviced the car last has used a rattle gun or cordless drill to undo the caps. The caps, which is phillips is total burred out. He has obviously topped up the fluid to much aswell.
My issue is that there is a trail of acid on the battery tray and on the front fender, All these surfaces are painted so now the paint has oxidized and bare metal is left.
Warranty issue maybe but batteries are only covered for 12 months,,,,what about faulty workmanship, Only ever been serviced at toyota.
I have a 60k service due soon and will pursue it then. They'll probably say that my dual battery system has caused the battery to boil, or some other lame excuse.
