  • Spring Rate

Does anyone know the Spring Rate for the standard OEM Toyota suspension. Would like to see how it compares to modified suspension kits.

    Re: Spring Rate

You can calculate an approximate rate.....

        Re: Spring Rate

Just did a spring rate calculation for standard springs vs OME springs. Interesting results.
        OME 881 Springs 51 to 110kg . 458.1LB/IN 16.1mm coil diamtier, 10 active coils
        2000, GXL V6 Toyota oem. 459.7LB/IN 15.4mm coil diamiter, 8 active coils

        OME 891 Springs Constant 150kg. 193.1LB/IN 16.1mm coil diamiter, 8 active coils
        2000,GXL V6 Toyota oem. 137.5LB/IN 14.1mm coil diamiter, 7 active coils

Front spring rate has remained the same just lifted 50mm. But feels firmer?
Rear Spring rate has increased by 40% resulting in 40mm lift. But front now feels firmer than rears ? Unless PolyAirs have 20PSI in them.

I Was contemplating putting original front springs back in with some spacers to regain ride height. I dont remember the car having firmer handling at the front before suspension upgrade. But looking at the calculations, the front spring rate is identical WTF.
I wanted to soften up my front springs to match the rear but maintain the ride height of the lifted coils. I dont seem to achieve full compression when off road either?
Im happy with the rear spring rate and can adjust using airbags for added load.
Has any one got any ideas?
