  • Do the front (clear) fog lights fit in the rear?

Has anybody tried, or does anybody know if the front (clear) fog lights on the standard bumper (and I believe the Soverign bullbar) are the same size and shape as the rear (red) fog light shell on the rear bumper? If so, will the front fog lights fit into the rear fog light space?

I am looking to further increase my reverse lights and fitting a set of those front fog lights seems a logical option - assuming they fit.

I would have a look myself, but I no longer have the front bumper or the front fog lights to play with. Iv'e looked through piccies on this forum but can't do a decent comparison and don't want to get my hands on a set only to find they don't fit.

    Anybody able to help?
    Cheers,
    JGD

I think the fronts are a little larger than the rears :?:

hey guys, just tried it and they don't fit. You could make them fit with some minor cutting of the plastic bar, but the outer edges of the driving lights are a slightly different shape. The other issue is, the standard red lights contained the reflector which is required by law, so you would need to somehow create new reflectors.

Not impossible if you are willing and creative....

actually, upon closer inspection, I wouldn't even attempt it. The fronts have a longer rear section that would foul with the inner guard at the rear, so you wouldn't be able to get it to sit in right.

BUt will not meet ADR's or have an E code, so would also be liable to defect. (One to remember)..

Re: Do the front (clear) fog lights fit in the rear?

Thanks to those who took the time to have a look - it's appreciated and means I won't need to spend money unnecessarily

In regards to ADR's relating to reflectors, these can be overcome by putting other small red reflectors (or reflector tape) on both sides of the rear, if anybody decides to remove the standard current ones.

            Thanks again,

I have been looking at those rear reflectors in the bumper for a while now... Can you get them to light up as tail lights/brake lights :?:

Has anyone wired them up :?: Can it be done :?:

Not quite that simple. I have just gone thru this with another of my vehicles. Defected for not having the factory reflector with correct E marking on it.. Trip to the pits.. Reflective tape meets no compliance anywhere in Aust. I tried that before having to replace factory ones.
You "may" get away with another reflector (with E marking) but it will need to be same size and shape to make the boys at the pits happy.

                    G'day TP,

In NSW, the Road Transport (Vehicle Registration) Regulation 2007 is the Act which covers vehicle compliance. Under this Act, section 118 covers the use of rear reflectors and section 117 lists the requirements for these reflectors, and under this Act there is no requirement to have the factory reflectors installed - in fact it states that "reflecting sheeting or tape" may be used.

Removing the factory reflectors and replacing them with reversing lights/brake lights and attaching new reflectors (that are fitted in a way that complies with the Act) would be no different I would think than installing a rear bar and having new reflectors fitted.

This relates to NSW though, so of course it may be different in other states.

                    Cheers,
                    JGD

I would still beg to differ.

I actually have a good source of info for this, My best mate is one of the main designers of lights/reflectors and mirrors for Toyota/ porsche/ Holden / Ford /Audi etc etc. Basically he knows his sh!t o this stuff as the company he works with makes millions a month from it.
Basically no E tick, no compliance or ADR, goes for all states in AU he says.

Another guy I know has just been trying to get his R35 rally rego'd in NSW and is having all kinds of bother over stupid things like reflectors and mirrors.

I know from personal experience in SA its a PITA!

Why would you need to drive through a fog backwards anyway?
