  • 6 Stacker in my VX Wont Play or Eject CD's - Any Ideas?

    Hi All.

Just wondering if any of you have had the same problem?

All I can hear is like a clicking noise, and the CD player wont select different discs, or playe the discs - nor will it eject at all - and the stereo automatically goes into Radio mode. Im going to lose it coz 6 of my favourite discs are in the player and I do not want to lose them in there.

Does anyone know if there is an easy fix like some kind of reset feature? I dont want to go to Toyota and have my wallet emptied

    Cheers
    Oscar

No idea if this would help or not but maybe try disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes then reconnect and try to eject.

I have had the same problem with my GX single CD player, CD would not play or eject, and kept flicking to the radio. It seems to be the tyre pressures, I had them at 38 PSI cold. Backed them off to about 34 (cold) and bingo problem solved. Seemed to be the CD player could not cope with bumpy ride. Give it a try.

Tried that - I might just pull it out and open it up to get my CD's out.

Looks like its time for a DVD/GPS/MP3/CD Combo MIght need to hit the Minister for Finance (The Mrs) up for a new unit.

This happened to me, about a month ago, it would not eject, play, or read any of the disks. If you tried to eject or use any disk, it would return to the radio, then out of nowhere often in the middle of driving it would start to eject all the disks.

90% of the time it displayed an "Error 3" message, 5% an "error 1" message and the other 5% nothing then it would return to radio.

From the idiotstructions: code 1 means the disk is dirty code 3 means take it to toyota its buggered

If you need to get your disks out, I found it some times worked first thing in the morning before it got too hot. But Mr Toyota replaced it under warranty, I don't think they really knew what was wrong.

I had it happen on my 2008 GXL. I pulled the fuse (stereo 2 I think, it's in the box next to the battery) and then put it back again. There was a tiny little arc when I did this. Tried the player and it worked. The player stopped again a day or so after. I did the same again and I haven't a problem since.

            Regards

The symptons are a bit different, but the single disc MP3 player in my new style Hilux has previously come with an error code, and doing weird things, cant get CD out, radio weird etc.
Its pretty common and many of our work ones have been replaced free by Toyota. They get them repaired. Im on my 4th one in 4 years, and its usually after some really hot weather. My ute bumps over minesites all year, but has mainly played up after a hot spell

              Hope this helps

Bugger, my replacement unit which is only 3 weeks old just started playing up yesterday.

Seems like they are punching out quality units

This problem is usually caused by trying to put 2 cd's into the one spot. The carrier takes it and then jams up.
Or sometimes they jump out of the carrier and sit at an angle and this jams up the works. If you pull it apart (check warranty!) you can them out without too much drama.

The final one is if you have kids..... They love putting coins in the little slot that looks just like a moneybox.

Apparently it is dodgy wiring in the bluetooth unit and when it gets to a certain temperature it just goes - phhhhhhhh plop bang boo see ya later. Nah nothing as exciting as that, it just stops working and send up the error 3 code.

I was wondering if the replacement unit was not just a refurbished one ??

I guess with Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney getting a decent summer it might make replacements a bit tight ??

Had the pleasure of pulling the unit apart, taking out my prized CD's and then smashed it to peices with a sledge hammer

                            Guys,

I had my CD multi stacker play up as well. It kept bringing up ERROR 3 messages. Then one day it decided that it didn't have any disks in it, while it was still full. After much trying to load and eject the disks, I just gave up and decided to pull the unit out of the dash.

After removing a few screws from the unit and exposing the internal workings of the radio/CD player, I found that one of the disks was stuck partway out. After some more mucking around, I managed to get all 6 disks out unharmed.

I also found out what the problem was! The rollers that carry the disks into and out of the player were slipping. No matter what I tried, they wouldn't grip the disks enough to carry them all the way into the player.

Solution to the problem! Do not put disks into the player until I have saved up enough money for a replacement CD player.
