Hey all,
The time has come where I am now fed up with the standard D4D charging system for the second battery as it seems hard to keep the power up to the engel (which is always on).
I am after some advice as to how I should run a solar panel recharge system at home for the battery.
What I have in mind is this: I have two BP 80w 5amp solar panel sitting around the garage gattering dust. I want to put these on the roof of the carport and run a cable to the back of the carport and a branch off to the front and have an anderson plug on them. I will then run an anderson plugged cable from the rear of the car to the battery(ies?) and use an extension cable to connect the car to the panels depending if we have parked under the carport or outside. I am running an ARB Battery isolator at the moment. I was thinking that I would also like to run a light onto the dash somewhere to let us know that we are plugged in so we don't drive off with cables plugged in.
I know that I need some sort of a solar regulator but there are so many versions out there and everone I have talked to has said their's is better than the other one. I also don't know if this type of thing is possible either and whether I connect the cables directly to the second battery or the isolator or maybe even the main battery?
Any help on this is greatly appreciated. Sorry if the details are sketchy but it looks good in my noggin'.
Lets turn it over to the PP experts for advice!
