  • Xray Vision Driving lights.

Bah ha ha ha !!! Santa gave me Xray Vision for an early xmas pressie !!!

Tracking these babies down was bloody hard, most 4wd and auto shop hadn't heard of them.

They are an all alloy/stainless construction, driving light, none of this plastic fantastic hit it with a baseball bat stuff !!

These are the lights and the manufacturer used to fit out emergency services vehicles

I went the 200 series blue halogen version RRP ~$320 each, they just fit into an ARB winch bar. HID versions are available at ~$1199 each !!!

The LED outer reflector circle outline is a 100% wank factor but looks pretty cool with the fog lights on

They come with plastic lens cover but no wiring.

I'll put some picts up after they are wired up properly

    Re: Xray Vision

Britax do them. Seem them around a bit.

Easy to find at any fire/rescue supplier or decent auto electricians that work on any fire/safety vehicles.

      Re: Xray Vision Driving lights.

Would the 200 series fit the Sovereign BB? I am looking for a H1 globe Spottie to convert to HID, I already have the HID kit. If these fit then they may suit my needs. Can they be purchased as singles?

        Re: Xray Vision Driving lights.

don't know about fitting the sovereign bb, all the specs are in the link from TP

they only sell them as singles, in either spot or driving, in either white or blue

apparently heaps of truckies use these lights for their build and durability

You can do a lot better than the RRP

          Re: Xray Vision Driving lights.

On an earlier post about suppliers. I'm pretty sure you pick them up at TJM or TJM Megastores.

            Re: Xray Vision Driving lights.

Geez took me long enough, finally a pict of the Xrays, there is a bit of bug splat but you get the idea.

After a few thousand kms they have performed very well, can take a bump or two, a dip in a few water crossing and pump out more than enought Lumens for those with normal scoptic vision.

With the Xrays on driving lights it's just an over exposed pict so I didn't bother

This pict is on the park/fog setting - 100% wank factor, BMW style !!

              Re: Xray Vision Driving lights.

These are at the TJM stand at the show this year and are on special. I am seriously thinking about buying a pair (220mm) at $220ea. Any more reviews from anyone?

              Cheers

                Re: Xray Vision Driving lights.

I was quoted $382 each (!) for the Britax 200 series clear Xray halogen lights at 4WD Megastores today! If your saying they are $220 then that great price. Overlander magazine tested them last year (PM me if you want the article), and looking at the lux charts the distribution charts, i would have no problem with Britax lights. They offer a all-round light...ie the lightforce will shine further but you not have the spread. Likewise the Brirax offer a spread of light from near to the car right through onto the spot with even distribution.

I quizzed the dudes at the Britax and came away more then impressed. You can buy replacement parts and HID upgrade kits. Love to know what other members like/dislike about these units.

                  Hey Spurio
You wernt kidding about it being a tight fit on the ARB bar. I just measured it up and cant believe you actually got them in. Out of interest what is the gap between your bars. Ive got 205mm and cant see how the back of the lights fall away quickly enough to fit without moving the mounting hole forward.. The specs say the height of the 200 series is 221mm

                  Thanks Jase

                    Re: Xray Vision Driving lights.

                    they are still going strong.

I've knocked up about 30 000kms in W QLD channel country with them being shaken to bits with the rest of the aerials on the bullbar and they seem to hold up quite well.

Other than blowing both globes after a month or so and replacing them with some high quality globes I am pretty happy. It is a bit of a pain replacing a globe as the whole assembly needs to come apart to put a new globe in, a real PITA in-situ.

Re: fit. As long as you don't want to use them as aircraft landing lights (i.e. pointed at the heavens) there is more than enough room on the ARB bar to fit them in the std holes.

If you are going to do a lot of winding mountainous roads I would probably go one spread one spot. If you are just doing high speed open country roads go two spot.

I ended up mounting them on a piece of high density rubber tape btn the mounting plate and the bullbar, as they kept slipping on the paint of the ARB bar (maybe as it was new??)
