  • How many spotties are acceptable?

Righto, call me all sorts of names but I happen to have a spare set of Rally 4000's in the shed that I had bought for me so I dont want to part with them. I didn't fit them to the Prado when I bought it because they wouldn't fit straight on and wasn't sure about making brackets. That was before I met you lot.

I had them on the roof rack for a while but there was a couple of things against it. It was too heavy for Tam and I to lift (it also has an awning on it). They went above the level of the rack so they had no protection. And also I felt a little bit funny with them up on the roof ,read - a bit ricer!!

So my question is this. Should I get a couple of brackets welded to the top bar of the bull bar and put them on there or not. I wouldn't have them up there all the time, just for trips and plug the wiring in. I wouldn't go out and buy them to do it but I already have them so you know. Got to do it. Just as long as I dont get barred from this site for doing it!

    Let me know your thoughts.

Matt once you HID your LF 240's you wont need to run the Rallys.

My HID conversion kit for the 240's should be here on Monday and I will try and do a conversion thread with photos of course.

I will do some before and after shots but by all reports these things will smoke roos at 20 kms.

If you don't want the hassle of getting mounts welded onto the bullbar maybe a aerial mount from RFI might do the trip, especially if its only for the ocassional trip the BBM-2 looks as though it will do the trick (I have just ordered one to mount my UHF antenna as I have a Toyota over bumber bullbar and it doesn't have one welded on), you could wrap some rubber around the bar to stop scratching.

I would be HIDing the Rallye's before the lightforce. Better lens, Better light and more robust brackets.

I do agree with you there TP. Like I said, I dont want to get trid of the Hellas, just when I bought the car I wasnt sure about the fitment so just bought some LF's.
The price of the HID kits at the moment I would seriously consider doing both.
I do know it's all a bit w***y but hey, you only live once.

One thing to remember is when you trade in your car you can always keep your HID's for your next 4WD! It may make the initial outright purchase easier.

You can never have too much money or too much light.

Once you go to HID, you'll never look back - however, it should not quench your lust for more light
