Hi Guys
Hope I'm posting in the correct section here, I'm new to the forum,I Have a Prado GXL D4D 2007 model Ive just got a Blueant Bluetooth Handsfree Car Kit, And need to gain access to the rear of the standard fit CD/Radio, to connect a wire on to pin number 14 ( Mute Connection ) to install it.
The question is guys How does the radio come out... Is it the aluminium side strips that have to come off first either side of the radio, carn't find any hidden screws anywhere that hold them on so i presume they are on clips, if so do you start top or bottom ??

Cheers Guys

Keith

Yes Keith they are just clip ons and they are plastic not metal. Just start near the seat and gradually ease them out once you get them started they come out pretty easily. Same goes for the two side stips with the vents in them, just need to reach behind and disconnect the wires to the switch and seatbelt inidicator.

Mcbain has a pretty good write up on his website:

Gday Kieth, there are a couple of posts showing pics etc on how to pull the stereo out have a bit of a search, but basicly give the shiny bits each side of the gearstick a yank upwards, then gently pull the panels with the airvents out from the bottom of the panel first, the ashtray area then just pulls off, this will then give you access to the bolts that hold the stereo in, as you said everything is clipped together except the actual stereo. Oh and the white plastic connector is missing the actual spade that connects to the stereo pin so you will either have to source one or solder a wire to the pin or some other method. :D

Easy as really
Check out "Head Unit Upgrade" elsewhere for Pics and details but basically lift up silver trim either side of the Gear lever first (some force required first time) then remove silver trim either side of Radio (pull gently from bottom first).

I do not have any experience with the small wireless packages but they would be my pick if I were to go that route. Most of us have in dash screens that we can attach a camera to.

Kieth, as I mentioned above it is a blank spot, slackos ! I havent chased down a pin, but im sure your friendly local yota dealer would help out. With mine, I unplugged the connector and soldered a small wire to the pin on the stereo then plugged the connector back in over the soldered on wire, looks like it is done with the little pin, unless you look real close
