  • Product Review: Hella DuraLEDs

Following on from recent discussion here.

I've installed some Hella DuraLED white position lights (parkers) and indicators to my Sovereign bull bar to replace the stock Narva incandescent combination.

The Hellas are attached in such a manner so as to cover the existing mounting holes with the new LEDs, not a simple as it sounds given the size difference and change from one combination to two individual lights.

Here's a shot of the mounting holes:

(Bugger, forgot to upload the shot. Will have to wait till I can get on the laptop again.) :x

Here's some shots of them installed, I forgot to take one with them off so you can see how they sit on the bull bar.

    I like this last shot.

The white LEDs look brilliant (literally) on the road, I see a lot of trucks on Bells Line with them and they really stand out. After years of motorcycling, I'm a big fan of being visible on the road. Oh, and of course there's the bling factor. :-)

The indicators aren't as bright as I expected, but they aren't bad.

The Hellas are very expensive, there over $100 worth there - but as I said in my other post, I reckon they will be worth it as they should last longer.

    Drew.

Oops - I forgot to include the Hella part numbers. ops:

      Thanks for the PM toytech.

The white units are Hella DuraLed 2054, see http://snipurl.com/1dbic

The amber units are Hella DuraLed 2026, see http://snipurl.com/1dbie

For the indicators I probably should have used Hella DuraLed 2051, see http://snipurl.com/1dbig as these might have been brighter as they are similar looking lens design to the 2054s - but they are not ADR compliant for an indicator as they have a very narrow viewing angle. I don't think ADR compliance is an issue as the lights on the bull bar are in addition to the original lights.
